Grade 6 Upgrade Course 
This is course is for grade 7 referees who wish to upgrade to the state referee (6) level, provided they meet the applicable age, game experience, and time in grade requirements.
Grade 8 Entry Level Referee Course 
The grade 8 course is the typical entry level course for most new referees. A grade 8 referee is qualified to work any youth matches, as appropriate to the referee's age and experience level. The grade 8 course involves completion of online modules on the Laws of the Game, an online module on concussion training, and approximately 12 hours of classroom/field training sessions, as well as the completion of a written test.
Grade 8 New Referee Course 
This grade 8 course is a pilot program that requires additional online pre-work and includes less classroom and more field training than the traditional course. It is recommended for, but not limited to, those who have soccer knowledge, good reading comprehension, and are self-motivated. Students will not be allowed to participate in class if the pre-work is incomplete.

The assignor course is to be completed by individuals who wish to become registered assignors with LSA and the US Soccer Federation. By USSF and LSA policy, all matches played by clubs, leagues, or tournaments affiliated with LSA must have registered referees appointed by a registered assignor.
